Norman Brodie, Ph.D.


Dr. Norman Brodie is a Professional Member of the National Academy of Neuropsychology and holds a Diplomate in Neuropsychology with the American College of Forensic Examiners. He obtained specialized education in neuropsychological assessment/consultation techniques through intensive training workshops with the major leaders in the field such as Drs. R. Reitan, C. Golden, and J. Moses. He completed doctoral level course work in neurological sciences and neuroanatomy at the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and conducted his Doctoral dissertation research on a validation of the Luria Nebraska Neuropsychological Battery with learning disabled adolescents.

As a neuropsychological consultant Dr. Brodie has worked extensively with both children and adults to evaluate the effects and consequences of neurological disorders and brain injury. He also has extensive experience in the assessment of the neuropsychological aspects of learning disabilities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders and fetal alcohol syndrome/effects. He has worked extensively with the courts in both civil and criminal cases and has been qualified as an expert witness in psychology and neuropsychology both in Alberta and the Yukon.

In addition to being a specialist in neuropsychological consultation, Dr. Brodie is also a graduate of both the University of Alberta Counselling (M.Ed.) and School Psychology (Ph.D.) programmes and he is an experienced psychotherapist and diagnostic consultant with many years of experience in hospital, community mental health services clinic and educational settings. He is also a Professional Member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, an assistant adjunct professor with the University of Alberta department of Educational Psychology, and adjunct professor with both the Concordia University College of Alberta's department of Psychology and the St. Stephen's College graduate level Pastoral Psychology and Counselling programme. He has also served as a field supervisor for psychology practicum students from the University of Alberta Department of Educational Psychology, the Concordia University College of Alberta Applied Psychology programme and the St. Stephen's College Pastoral Psychology and Counselling programme.
